Inherent Vice (2014)

The problem with with PTA's latest is not that it's hard to follow (which it is), but that it's ultimately rather dull. It's often funny, and Joaquin is a likeable host, but too many scenes either go nowhere or come off as smarmy instead of clever. Not a dud, but far from a hit.
