American Sniper (2014)

Some very realistic, gory, intense scenes pepper the high-flown story of Chris Kyle. Cooper is only decent. The story of the modern American soldier is better told through a documentary. On the whole, underwhelming. Move along.

American Sniper (2014)

The problem with American Sniper is not its jingoism or embellishment of Chris Kyle's story. It's that it's uneven and unoriginal. Cooper does a excellent job, but the film rehashes everything we saw in The Hurt Locker seven years ago. Worth seeing, but nothing remarkable.

American Sniper (2014)

ヽ༼ຈل͜ຈ༽_•︻ ┻̿═━一 The entire film is extremely interesting (at least to a war movie novice viewer), but I have no idea who let Clint make that sandstorm scene. Also Beefy Bradley is a tantalizing metamorphosis.

American Sniper (2014)

Things are pretty black and white in Eastwood's world, lacking all nuance, which is a shame, as what he does he does pretty solidly. BC is okay, but a third consecutive oscar nom is a farce. Also, this may take some of the shine off, but turns out Chris Kyle is a bit of a psycho.

American Sniper (2014)

A decent, compelling, troubling film, based on the real life of legendary sniper Chris Kyle. Strong performances by SM and BC. Decent directing by CE. (On a personal note, this actually isn't my genre of film, but from a professional POV, it deserves a high 'grade'.)
