Wild (2014)

Felt forced, flashbacks are flummoxing, story sidesteps special. Witherspoon's the rare winner in Wild; she steals the show.

Wild (2014)

Cheryl Strayed is on a brave journey. While the purpose may not be explicit, it is clear she is on a personal mission. Through intense flashbacks, the viewer is tasked with putting her life's story together. Though, the more interesting (and less rattling) story is on the trail.

Wild (2014)

Despite the name, Wild is not about The Wild at all. It's a film about forgiveness and acceptance, and it tells a story with heavy themes in a refreshingly honest way. The flashbacks are disorienting at times, but I'm not sure a more linear approach would have been as effective.

Wild (2014)

Nothing really wild about this film about redemption and accepting to live with your past. Decent movie. Good stuff. (The book was way much better imho.)

Wild (2014)

Solid follow up to Dallas Buyers Club. Nice to see the Quebecer succeed in Hollywood. The internal isolation and inner emotional turmoil is really well represented with flashbacks and varying auditory levels (inner dialogue with differing levels of lucidity). Pretty slick.
