Whiplash (2014)

Watched this because of the strong recommendation from @Mdjphillips and it was worth the hype. Simmons is stellar.

Whiplash's worth the watch. Simmons seriously scared the shit out of me.

A pregnant meditation on perfection that's as good as you've heard. Doesn't feel right filing Simmons under Best Supporting Actor. He dominates that much.

I hold drumming and jazz both in the same category where I can't even care enough about them to hate either. Just neutral gray disinterest. Yet this is the most engaging, heart-pounding, red-hot film of the year. Insane. 96 but in more than 480p I imagine it would be higher so...

i thought it was excellent. still thinking about it over a week later and would watch it again.

Top 3 or 4 movies of the year for me. The sustained intensity was riveting and the acting and directing are to thank for that. Although not terrible by any means, I thought then ending could have been a little more interesting.
