50/50 (2011)

It's an awful movie in reflection or in summary (or at least the type of movie I avoid like cancer). But in the moment its engaging as hell. Got a perfectly contouring cast, and dialogue that all indie movies try to hit with their "Normal people" genre of comedy. Dramedy silver.

50/50 (2011)

Sweet, touching and funny is a delicate ride to balance but this film, based on Rogen and writer Will Eisner's experiences with Eisner's diagnosis of cancer at such a young age, does it marvelously. The right way to do sentiment.

I absolutely loved this movie. While it is listed as a comedy and it is very funny, it's also very real. A definite must-see.

Calling this movie a "cancer comedy" somehow doesn't seem fair to the movie. 50/50 has moments which are funny, sad, sweet, awkward and heartbreaking while always feeling honest and real. A great movie - perfect for today's generation.
