Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

Stimulating and silly superhero stuff just genuinely jazzier than genre junk.

Certainly one of the most purely entertaining films to be released this year. James Gunn was definitely the right guy to take Marvel movies into another direction.

A welcome addition to the otherwise tiresome superhero genre. It's filled such weird yet charming characters (who are also perfectly cast), that even when you don't know what's going on, you're having a good time. Glad to hear they're making a sequel.

Took me a while to finally catch this gem. From the trailer I thought it was going to be garbage but it was captivating from beginning to end. Stable story, great villian, better heros. I desire more.

Usually the quirky humor in marvel movies irks me to no end - when you want a movie to be dark, but it just has to pander to the widest possible audience. Guardians is a different marvel movie in a lot of ways, one of which being that the humor fits its mood perfectly.
