Synopsis:

Like Blair Witch, Paranormal Activity understands that the best horror is all build, right up to the final scene. Even though you get the payoff, you're still left with a wafting sense of paranoia which is fantastic.

The one and only instance of lightning in a bottle for this now exsanguinated franchise. Perhaps a result of it's novelty, or of a more adept use of pacing, Paranormal manages to tap dance on the happier side of competence threshold, if only just slightly.

Did you know this film cost $15,000 to make? And made something like $200,000,000 at the Box Office. Now, shit movies make a lot of money, this isn't one of them. A slow build to terror that works perfectly.

Paranormal Activity (2009)

I thoroughly enjoyed this horror (suspense) film. For me the horror is all in the lead up. The characters do act in typical horror movie fashion and sometimes you just want to hit them. Bonus drinking game: Take a drink every time there is paranormal activity or Micah acts dumb.
