Rust and Bone (2012)

I love the film's thoughtful, considered and rare treatment of masculinity, single fatherhood, violence, disability, and so on. As a film, it's nowhere near the level of "A Prophet", which was a little disappointing. But in a year of a lot of shit movies, it's welcome.

Rust and Bone (2012)

You did it again Jacques Audiard. Though I expect more hate for this film, there are a lot of "Hollywood shortcuts" that Audiard could have taken but didn't. Bravo!

Rust and Bone (2012)

Unconventional in that one protagonist, Cotillard's character, was complex, evolving, inspiring, the other, Shoenaets' character, was simple and unlikable. Maybe the odd pairing is what makes the relationship so interesting. I don't understand why, but it really worked.

Rust and Bone (2012)

Violent and unexpected and totally unique, if I hadn't just seen Beasts of the Southern Wild this would have been the best movie I'd seen in some time.
