To me its not about the internet at all. It's really about people getting into adult situations before they have the maturity to deal with them, which makes for incredibly interesting characters you can easily sympathize with even when they are jerkish. One of my favs.

The lead actor played well, but Timberlake? Come on. A teen-pop idol for a work of teen-pop substance. This is unspectacular film-making. They say it defines a generation, an insult to works of art that actually do so. (The generation likes to use the Internet? Wow. Profound.)

A really well done character piece with a strong story of intrigue, treachery, passion, and drama, the Social Network is a contemporary tale of a startup that went big and the sacrifices made along the way.
