You're Next (2011)

Aside from some suspect acting on behalf of a couple of the mains, this move gets most things right. Surprisingly funny at times and contains enough scares and gore to deliver on the promises made by it's marketing.

Nicely plotted suspenseful horror. As long as you can get past the praise it received as being a new classic it shouldn't disappoint. Good at motivating the mystery element, the "Why is this happening?" moreso than most horror.

I seriously dug how rightly done the first completely chaotic half was, and after that the creeping suspense it puts out makes it tense as hell. But then it went from creepy-scary climax to power-fantasy climax. Still alright, but shifted to something I didn't want as much.

Surprisingly select. Please take me at my word that I'm not a sucker for this genre. What I am a sucker for is a well thought-out plot and strong execution. You're Next is a tight and satisfying narrative with just enough slack to let you imagine.
