Les Misérables (2012)

This is my all time favourite musical and I was both excited and scared to see this version. Overall, it was just what I wanted. Highlights: Hathaway, Jackman. Both gave amazing performances. Lowlights: Crowe and the new song. I was bored by both. But Crowe grew on me throughout

Joan of Arc (1999)

Awful. Seriously awful. It is poorly written and poorly filmed. I'm watching it in my World Religion class and I'm bored to tears. This is three hours of my life I will never get back. It does have NPH.

X-Men: First Class (2011)

I really liked this and was very surprised when I saw it in theatre. I showed it in my Career class and they were totally confused by it. I didn't realize that if you don't know the history of the characters the story is confusing. So, I think it's great for X-Man FANS.

The Iron Lady (2011)

Not what I expected at all. It's more of a story about Alzheimer's than one of politics. Fascinating story and Streep is, as usual, wonderful. Worth the watch. But I did want to see more of a bio pic.

Twilight (2008)

I own this. I own all of them. And I'm a sad human being because of it. This is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. The acting and writing are appalling. And before you ask why I own them, it's because I'm a teacher and my students were obsessed with it. I try to relate.

The Crow (1994)

I may be a little biased (I do have 2 tattoos inspired by The Crow) but I feel this movie is perfection. From the first viewing I was hooked. It makes me me sad to think of what Brandon Lee could have been. I'm scared for the remake.

Knocked Up (2007)

Genuine. Recently rewatched this and I think I liked it more this time around. Jason Segel, Jay Baruchel, Jonah Hill, and Martin Starr are hillarious as Seth Rogan's pot head roomies. The pink eye thing? Awersome. And I adore Paul Rudd. I think it's sweet and too funny.

[REC] (2007)

Recently picked this up on bluray witout seeing it first. It was worth the cash. I had seen the American remake "Quararantine" and didn't find it memorable. REC is. It does an excellent job of using the "found footage" trick the way it should be used. The scares are there.

Super 8 (2011)

I really loved this. Will it be as memorable as "E. T."? Probably not. But I do think it will speak to this generation similar to the way "E. T." spoke to ours. One of my faves of 2011!

The Exorcist (1973)

Although, compared to today's horror films, it can be considered a little slow moving but I challenge anyone to watch the scene where Regan does some... "things" with a crucifix and not be disturbed. Seeing a demon control a twelve year old is just frightening.
