Django Unchained (2012)

A non-stop riot of humor and excitement, throughout this brilliant yet quite brutal revenge western. A thrilling, well-structured masterpiece. One of QT's best works.

Django Unchained (2012)

Predictably this was stylish, well-acted, and gratifying to watch. It was also (no surprise) laughably self-indulgent and about thirty minutes too long. There's no reason this couldn't have been leaner but that said, Django marks an unmissable installment in the evolution of QT.

Django Unchained (2012)

Enjoyable as most QT films are but I thought the final third (after Christoph Waltz and Leo exit) was rather disappointing. Which was a shame as the writing was superb upto that point. A little indulgent at times and not as tight as Pulp or even Basterds. Still, a good watch.

Django Unchained (2012)

If Tarantino's brash style fits well with any theme, it's the oppression of men by other men. The brutality is so nonchalant, you have to remind yourself people really did this shit to each other. Slow build-up really made the retribution cathartic. Lynch mob scene was classic.

Django Unchained (2012)

Three gripes: it is a bit self-indulgent at times, Jamie Foxx is in it, and Leo's limited screen time was a crime. That aside, this is still a great flick. Waltz is a joy to watch and QT's ability to tell a story really shines. QT is the Pixar of live action movies.

Django Unchained (2012)

there's something about tarantino that annoys me on a deep-seated level; maybe it's the lack of originality (in the sense of re-hashing old film motifs), maybe it's spectacular skill as a filmmaker. anyway. i liked this better than basterds.

Django Unchained (2012)

Django Unchained is everything that I want out of a Tartino western. The language and violence is so over-the-top that it goes beyond the offensive into a realm of accetability. Tarantino is the most self-aware of all film makers.

Django Unchained (2012)

I agree with everything fellow haters have said. Plus: I loved the soundtrack. I really liked Christoph Waltz in Basterds and this flick, I just hope he's not typecast as the quirky, silver-tongued german guy. Drinking game: Drink solemnly when the n-word is used.

Django Unchained (2012)

With such beautiful cinematography, mellifluous dialogue, and entertaining characters, Django is pretty darn great by most standards. But! Given how high QT has set his own bar, I will say this: it felt like a rehash of Inglorious Basterds. Still very good, but a little less wow.

Django Unchained (2012)

I wish QT made films more often. All the tropes and iconography of the spaghetti western transposed into the antebellum south. Throw in Tarantinos usual quirks and you've got another home run. Who needs reality when your fantasy is this good?

Django Unchained (2012)

I thought that Christoph Waltz was the best part of Inglorious Basterds, and he again was amazing in this film. I will say that this is probably because Tarantino excels in quirky, and is one of a very few number of people out there who can write for him. Only beef was the length

Django Unchained (2012)

If there's one thing Quentin knows how to do its to make you feel like the protagonist is totally justified in anything he does, Classic black-and-white, good-and-evil style action flick. What's more hateable than racists? But the cleverness of the film dies after about 2 hours.

Django Unchained (2012)

Tarantino's eccentricities are nicely tolerable in this. Waltz was definitely the highlight, but Leo D. was also very good. I probably would have given the movie a 90 if it had been 30 minutes shorter and it did drag a little. Cool and stylish though, with a good story.

Django Unchained (2012)

With the passing of Sally Menke, I was curious about Tarantino's new editor, who I quickly learned didnt say "no" to his boss. Definitely felt like a director's cut of the film. A bit indulgent, but the cool kind. Couldn't stop grinning and feeling cool for 165 minutes.
