Synopsis:

Driver is a skilled Hollywood stuntman who moonlights as a getaway driver for criminals. Though he projects an icy exterior, lately he's been warming up to a pretty neighbor named Irene and her young son, Benicio. When Irene's husband gets out of jail, he enlists Driver's help in a million-dollar heist. The job goes horribly wrong, and Driver must risk his life to protect Irene and Benicio from the vengeful masterminds behind the robbery.

The movie Michael Mann didn't make in 1983. Great throwback look and style. Some of the first halfs pacing could have been tightened a little more but that was a choice they went with and it doesn't really hurt the movie, just didn't help either.

I enjoyed this mildly less than I thought I would but I still enjoyed it a lot. Drive is savoury for its stylistic uniqueness and many twists and turns. Indeed very gamey. Grand Theft Auto in movie form.

Slow but perfectly paced, Drive was riveting from the excellent opening scene to its dramatic conclusion. Ryan G. surpassed all expectations and provided a truly incredible and unique performance. The film was beautifully shot and showcased an excellent and suiting soundtrack.

Gosling is captivating. Some might argue there's more style than substance here, but in a movie this stylish, I'm not complaining. A great portait of LA, and visually one of the best of the year. Music was killer too.

I understand what the movie tried to do, & there is something to be said about the pacing which was unnervingly slow in the beginning, but Drive is try-hard art house that did NOT work. It was too blatant in its attempt to be a movie that critics are SUPPOSED to like. AWFUL.

Expertly paced, Drive is interestingly shot with long, deliberate scenes punctuated with furiously effective action. Drive pays huge dividends on fantastic soundtrack selections, disciplined timing and directorial restraint.
