Magic Mike's a misguided mission to manifest Tatum's talents. Steven Soderbergh's certainly sold out his signature style and should supervise his screenwriters.

I guess I agree with the consensus here. It's solid, but beyond the actual meat and potatos of male stripping, it's not terribly interesting. For the same reason, Tatum shines.

Not since "Showgirls" have I been so happy to see a childhood icon strip. That's right, Kevin Nash (AKA Diesel) rounds out the cast of male strippers in this blatant exploitation of Channing Tatum's... acting ability. Cool vibe. Hilarious scene involving a penis pump.

Cody Horn was not good in this and it didn't have much of an ending. Being a Soderbergh movie I think gave it some credibility in some critical eyes that it didn't earn. That said, it was fine for what it was, just not quite worthy of the high praise it's been given.

(spoilers) I'm about to lose all credibility in rating this high. Classic boy-meets-boy / boy-becomes-stripper / boy-becomes-addicted-to-drugs-and-ods-learning-nothing tale. Kind of tragic, really. Also, bums.
