The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011)

Unfortunately for me this movie doesn't do it. As much as I loved and rooted for the Swedish (original) movie and series, primarily because the characters looked and acted so real, this American version is plain pitiful. Also, Rooney Mara IS NOT a good Lisbeth. IMO.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011)

The story only really gets going once the two leads are together and that's about half way into the film. Until then it's mostly character establishment for Lisbeth while Blomqvists part isn't great until she joins in. Decent, but greatness eludes it.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011)

Enjoyable. This remake does offer more bounce to the ounce than its Nordic progenitor, and it is often more visually striking as well. My problem with all the blitz is that it oversaturates the plot. Moreover, supporting characters need to back their shit up.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011)

Its hard to give a film a high grade when only 70% of it captivated you. After a slow start and a tacked on end, a film that could have left me with a triumphant adrenalin rush, instead left me feeling unnecessarily bored and depressed.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011)

I was excited for this adaptation after reading from the author's widow that it was truer to his vision. Fincher delivers a stunning production, Mara is a brilliant psychopath, and Reznor's soundtrack sets the whole thing on cold fire (is that a thing? That's what it felt like).

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011)

Fincher proves once again just how good he is at crafting dark, moody crime thrillers; he's at home here, and it shows. Daniel Craig is solid, but the real winner is Rooney Mara who absolutely nails it as Lisbeth Salander. I eagerly await the sequel.
