Captain Phillips (2013)

Amateur acting from all. Typically Tom is terrific so substandard sailor schtick is startling. Sporadically spellbound for seconds but bored for the balance.

Captain Phillips (2013)

Luckily this "hostage story" didn't need special visual effects. It's pretty solidly shown on screen and Hanks certainly gives here one of his best performances. Very emotional and moving performances in fact by many.

Captain Phillips (2013)

As expected from Greengrass, Captain Phillips is a fast-paced, well-told, thrill ride. Despite some apparently unfounded heroizing of the Captain character, it's nevertheless a remarkable story with an unsettling conclusion. I suspect this one will stick with me for a while.

Captain Phillips (2013)

It's been a long time since the always affable Hanks has had a bona fide winner - but this is certainly it. The movie was gripping and there is no doubt that he carries it. Left me wanting in some small way that I can't put my finger on - but I wasn't disappointed.
