Amour (2012)

It's long, it's slow, and yet, it's totally distilled. Knowing now Haneke's game I can look on this more favourably but while I was watching I was rather dismayed at how coolly the characters were portrayed. No emotional crescendos here (except the one that's too big to see.)

Amour (2012)

There were some great films in 2012, but this was probably the only masterpiece in my view. Flawless. I know the pacing was slow and its an art house joint in every sense but fewer films have felt more real. Haunting and beautiful. Definitely gotta see more of Haneke's work.

Amour (2012)

This depiction of a man slowly loosing his wife is bleak and not overly manipulative or sensational with the heartache - all the while conveying that sentiment well. I did at times want to see more emotion from the characters. It's slow, but well worth your patience.
