Django Unchained (2012)

Enjoyable as most QT films are but I thought the final third (after Christoph Waltz and Leo exit) was rather disappointing. Which was a shame as the writing was superb upto that point. A little indulgent at times and not as tight as Pulp or even Basterds. Still, a good watch.

Amour (2012)

There were some great films in 2012, but this was probably the only masterpiece in my view. Flawless. I know the pacing was slow and its an art house joint in every sense but fewer films have felt more real. Haunting and beautiful. Definitely gotta see more of Haneke's work.

Minority Report (2002)

One of my absolute favourite films. The prescient 'future' technologies depicted in this are just amazing - the interfaces, the spyder bots, the personalized advertisement hoardings! Terrific plot, pacing and direction.

A Bronx Tale (1993)

There were a lot of little nuances I liked about this. Some great lines from De Niro and Palminteri's characters but the overall experience was a little flat; something seemed to be missing. Good film, but not special.

Life of Pi (2012)

Visually dazzling. A magical movie experience. Some of the best use of 3D/CGI to date. Haven't read the book so can't comment on how good the adaptation was. I ended up feeling that I wanted to like this more than I actually did; still, a beautiful film.

Take Shelter (2011)

Love the brooding air of unease that runs through this film conveyed so effectively by Micheal Shannon. This guy is a really special actor and I think we're going to be hearing a lot about him in the future. Great, subtle film-making.

Seven Psychopaths (2012)

Just fell a little short of the class of In Bruges for me but still one of the most wildly imaginative, fun, zany films of the year. A little Tarantino, a little Kaufman and great performances from Sam Rockwell and that man, Christopher Walken.

Skyfall (2012)

Solid entertainment. I'm a big fan of D.Craig's gritty Bond. Javier Bardem was excellent as always and the Bond origin story that was touched on was definitely intriguing. Not sure if this was as great as the critics made it out to be, but miles better than Quantum of Solace
