Red State (2011)

The fact that the main characters can actually die in this movie gives you a real sense of exhiliaration when you see them being hunted. Besides being a very well-made horror movie, it packages and delivers messages and themes extremely well without being "blatant as fuck".

Red State (2011)

Great change-up from classic Smith movies. His dialogue style is there but that's about it. Compelling tale, that doesn't follow a mainstream "path" (for lack of a better word). John Goodman is fantastic.

Red State (2011)

This movie is engaging as all hell. It challenges the notion that horror movies have to be dead in the water like nothing I've ever seen. No one is safe in Red State, and it pulls off a gritty aesthetic without embarassing itself. Enter this one with abandon.

Red State (2011)

This is not a Kevin Smith movie, despite being written and directed by him. An action thriller with a touch of horror and exploitation, this is way better than its reputation. Michael Parks, Melissa Leo and John Goodman are fantastic.
