Mulholland Drive (2001)

A compulsive, dark, scary, funny, and confusing mess of a movie. Also, highly rewatchable and completely engrossing. David Lynch at his absolute best. If a straight forward narrative is not a prerequisite for enjoying a movie, this is an absolute must see.

Side Effects (2013)

Great first half. An interesting look into mental illness and the process of balancing medications and their side effects. Halfway through it turns into a typical thriller with mediocre twists and turns. Worth a look if you're a thriller fan.

Sunshine (2007)

Danny Boyles vision of a dying sun didn't get much love at the box office, but this frantic save the world mission that turns into a full on horror film in the third act is highly watchable.

Sinister (2012)

A let down. Most critics I read praised this as the scariest movie in years. Jump scares abound with no real sense of dread, and the ending plays out exactly as you expect about halfway through the movie.

Inside (2007)

A slow burn French horror movie that starts with a Halloween type atmosphere and descends into the most horrifying vision of childbirth imaginable. Great villain, great effects, again not for everyone.

Suspiria (1977)

Argento took the italian giallo and turned it on it's head with this acid infused look at witches and ballet. Forced dialogue and bad dubbing are par for the course when taking in italian horror, but it's well worth the trip. A must watch.

Martyrs (2008)

Martyrs is filled with images and themes we probably shouldn't see. But, for those who can handle what the movie presents, there is a terrifying view into a person's end. I spent quite a bit of time pushing for a horror movie that could still shock, and this one pushed back.
